A stunt airbag gets stepped on, ridden onto, rolled up, transported, stored, inflated again, and landed on over and over. The materials have to make sense for that reality.
Gravity Stunt Systems uses PVC construction chosen for a practical combination of durability, abrasion resistance, repairability, cost, and ease of manufacture. Just as importantly, our standard airbags use a replaceable top sheet, so wear to the landing surface does not automatically mean replacing the entire airbag.
That approach is the heart and soul behind Gravity: we wanted professional-level practice equipment that families and everyday riders could realistically own, maintain, and keep using.
Our standard airbags use two primary material layers:
You can find this construction across standard models including the Pluto Lander, Lunar Lander, Mercury Lander, Mars Lander, and Moon Base Flat.
Our manufacturer recommended PVC as the best overall fit for these products because it balances several things that matter in real use: durability, abrasion resistance, repairability, manufacturing practicality, and cost.
The goal is not to make a landing airbag unnecessarily complicated. It is to put material where riders need it and make the parts most likely to wear easier to deal with over time.
The top sheet takes the brunt of regular sessions. Tires, shoes, dirt, repeated landings, and normal movement across the surface can all add wear over time.
Instead of permanently integrating that surface into the inflatable body, Gravity secures the 0.9 mm PVC top sheet with strong hook-and-loop strips. When the top sheet eventually wears out, you can remove and replace it while the main inflatable body remains in service.
That was an intentional design choice to extend product life and help reduce long-term ownership costs. Instead of replacing an entire airbag because the highest-wear layer has reached the end of its service life, owners can replace the top sheet as needed.

Maintenance is worth paying attention to. Check the top sheet regularly, address wear before it becomes a bigger problem, and follow Gravity’s airbag care and cleaning guidance between sessions.
Even durable riding equipment can meet a sharp object or take an awkward hit.
Every Gravity airbag includes a repair kit with:
Owners should be able to repair punctures and tears smaller than three inches using the supplied materials. If damage is larger than three inches, stop and contact Gravity Stunt Systems before continuing to use the airbag so we can help determine the appropriate next step.

That repairability was another reason PVC made sense for Gravity. Gear intended for repeated outdoor use should not become disposable because of a repairable puncture.
Not every rider needs the same airbag construction.
Gravity is introducing the Sputnik youth airbag with a lighter 0.4 mm PVC inflatable body and a 0.6 mm top sheet. We chose these lighter materials for smaller, lighter riders and to make the product’s overall weight more manageable for parents.
It is the same design philosophy we use throughout the Gravity lineup. Match the equipment to the rider rather than asking every rider to wrestle with more airbag than they need.
For current beginner and family-friendly options, you can also compare the Pluto Lander and Lunar Lander.
Gravity Stunt Systems designs and specifies its airbags, then works with its manufacturer through production.
As part of that process, the manufacturer performs factory inspections, photographs finished products for Gravity to review, and inflates the airbags as part of its checks.
That manufacturing relationship also gives us room to do much more than build a standard catalog. Gravity offers custom landing airbags for riders, coaches, parks, businesses, events, film productions, and specialized stunt projects that need a particular size, shape, branding treatment, or configuration.
Good materials still need good treatment. A few habits make a real difference:

Gravity Stunt Systems started because the alternatives did not make much sense for everyday riders. Cheap equipment was not what we wanted our own families landing on, while professional systems were often priced for bike parks and training facilities rather than backyards.
Our materials are part of how we bridge that gap. Replaceable wear surfaces help extend product life. Repair kits help owners handle smaller problems. Multiple airbag sizes let riders buy for their actual level rather than paying for unnecessary size. And when a standard model does not fit, our custom program gives us another option.
Whether you are looking for a compact Pluto Lander, the larger Mercury Lander, the expert-oriented Mars Lander, a versatile Moon Base Flat, or something built specifically for your project, the goal stays the same:
Play hard. Land soft. Own gear that is built to keep coming back for another session.
